Interested in writing for graphic novels, but not sure where to start?
This workshop led by graphic novelist Kathleen Gros will lead you through the ins and outs of writing comics (even if you’re not an artist)! Whether you’re already a fan of the medium, or new to the concept, Kathleen will help you build on your existing writing skills with everything you need to know about writing graphic novels.
You’ll learn best practices for structuring your scripts, organizing your ideas into pages and panels, and envisioning your story through the lens of sequential art. As well, she’ll share her thoughts on collaborating with artists, and how to create comics as part of a team.
Kathleen Gros is a cartoonist living in Vancouver, BC. She is the creator behind the graphic novel Jo: An Adaptation of Little Women (Sort Of) (HarperCollins 2020). Two more graphic novels with HarperCollins have been announced with releases slated for 2022 and 2024. She graduated with a BFA in Illustration from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2015 & teaches comics in the Continuing Studies program at Langara.
